How to find the right AMSOIL product
The easiest way to avoid choosing the wrong oil, fluid or filter is to start with the application—not the product label. AMSOIL provides lookup guides for vehicles and equipment that narrow recommendations to the exact application.
1. Identify the exact application
Gather the year, manufacturer, model, engine and any other component information the lookup requests. For equipment, you may also need the equipment type or engine manufacturer.

3. Confirm the specification
Review the recommendation against the owner's manual or service information. The correct viscosity is important, but so are required industry or manufacturer specifications.

A simple process for choosing the right lubricant
Most product-selection mistakes happen when someone starts with a brand or viscosity instead of the equipment specification. Work from the application outward.
1. Identify the exact application
Record year, make, model, engine and, when relevant, transmission, axle, transfer case or equipment model.
2. Identify the component
Engine oil, transmission fluid, gear oil, hydraulic fluid, grease and coolant are separate categories with different requirements.
3. Confirm specification & capacity
Check the required viscosity, performance standard and approximate service capacity before ordering.
Then choose the AMSOIL product
Once the requirements are clear, compare AMSOIL products that meet the application. Also verify the filter, drain-plug washer or other service items needed for the job. For vehicles used in towing or severe service, review the manufacturer’s severe-service maintenance schedule.
Common mistakes to avoid
Do not assume two components use the same fluid because they are in the same vehicle. Do not select by viscosity alone. Do not exceed service intervals simply because a premium synthetic lubricant is installed; operating conditions, warranty requirements, filtration and manufacturer guidance still matter.
