AMSOIL Performance Tests & Technical Data

A plain-English look at selected standardized test results AMSOIL publishes for motor oil, diesel oil and filtration—and what those numbers do and do not mean for your vehicle.

Use test data as evidence, not as a shortcut

Standardized laboratory tests make it possible to compare specific lubricant properties under controlled conditions. They are useful because they isolate wear, volatility, oil consumption, filtration efficiency and other characteristics. They do not replace the vehicle manufacturer's viscosity/specification requirements or guarantee the same percentage improvement in every engine.

Full-flow and bypass filters serve different purposes. AMSOIL publishes 99% efficiency at 20 microns for its full-flow oil filters and 98.7% at 2 microns for its bypass media.
